In depth

Verdict

As is often the case in bumpers, there is little for backers to go on and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Sea Venture, who is preferred to Hey Charlie and Massasoit. The last mentioned comes from a yard that always has to be respected with their runners in this grade and has to be respected, especially if the market speaks in his favour. Similar comments apply to Silver Accord, while Oneforsaturday has to be of interest on his British debut for shrewd connections but was well held on his only start in Ireland. Present Love is well bred for the jumping game but makes limited appeal until stepped up in distance over obstacles, while Hey Charlie is similarly well bred but may prefer a faster surface. Only Just Begun ran with promise when fourth behind the useful Tot O'Whiskey here earlier this month and has to be respected but Sea Venture finished third in that race and strictly holds him. That represents the best form on offer and Sea Venture gets the vote to open his account here.
