    Verdict

Toni Alcala has slipped to a career low mark and has to be respected but Roger Fisher's gelding has become rather frustrating and a safer bet looks to be Tiamo, who is preferred to Yankeedoodledandy. The selection is relatively unexposed over staying trips having opened his account in a maiden handicap over 1m6f at Goodwood last month on what was his sixth career start. A 5lb rise for that success is perfectly fair for the three-year-old, who should improve further for the extra two furlongs today. A tough hurdling campaign may just have taken the edge off Yankeedoodledandy although Pat Haslam's gelding clearly has claims on the pick of his form. James Bethell's Master Wells would want a softer surface to show his best form and a bigger threat may come from Kristensen, who has disappointed in his last two starts but has solid claims on earlier form. Worlaby Dale faces no easy task from out of the handicap and preference is for the potential improver Tiamo.
