Verdict

CAPTAIN MARMALADE was unfancied on his debut at Newbury and ran accordingly, being held up before making some late headway. He obviously needed the experience, which won't have been lost on him, and he can see off the challenge of Tachophobia. Richard Fahey's colt showed the benefit of his opening run at Beverley with a fair effort behind Pres Rapide at York and the step up in trip won't do any harm. Summer Times is a half-brother to a couple of winners and out of a winning miler so he's one to note while Cerise Firth has run twice on soft ground and could do better on this much quicker surface.
