In depth

Verdict

This looks quite a fascinating bumper and the newcomers Theatre Rights, Scotmail Too and Amalfi Storm should be monitored for any market moves, but on this occasion we will stick with the form horse and that is Brave Rebellion. Keith Reveley's gelding was very green on his debut over course and distance, for he was never travelling well but picked up late on to finish a closing-third behind Malt De Vergy. The experience will have done him the world of good and he will take all the beating this afternoon. Scotmail Too is trained by Howard Johnson and is a well bred son of Saddler's Hall, meanwhile Amalfi Storm from the Mick Easterby yard is is superbly bred by Slip Anchor out of a Bustino mare. However the pick on paper could be Theatre Rights who is by Old Vic out of a Deep Run mare, making him a half brother to hurdles winner Ashleybank House. Bougore looks the best of the other experienced runners, but Brave Rebellion has more scope for improvement and is a confident choice
