In depth

Verdict

A poor contest gets proceedings underway but something has to win and the principals look to be Lucy Lamplighter, Canadian Sunset and Anns Benefit and the vote is given to Lucy Lamplighter. The selection was a fair third behind Le Marquis at Perth last time out, that form looks rock solid in the context of this race and she need only run up to that form to win this with plenty in hand. Canadian Sunset rates the main danger on his latest second behind Buffy but her very best form is over a shorter distance and she is taken on with this in mind. Anns Benefit has been running well in points of late and should appreciate the drop in trip so she could go well at a price. Of the remainder Compton Eclaire has place claims but is far from consistent while Obligee de Sivola is clearly capable of better but for the winner we return to Lucy Lamplighter who will be hard to beat.
