In depth

Verdict

Brave Broncho is preferred in the opener to Emotive and Day's Over. The selection comes into this race on the back of a ready success over fences at Perth from a pound higher mark than today's and may be able to make the most of what now looks to be a decent mark over the smaller obstacles. True, he hasn't excelled in this discipline in the past but that could also be said of his chasing and he's taken to continue in the right direction now that he's found his form. Honky Tonky Woman is considered but appears to be on a high enough mark and of more interest is Emotive whose experience of the track will certainly be in his favour. He was only beaten 3 lengths into fourth on his penultimate start and his cause wasn't helped last time by being hampered. Day's Over is having her first start in handicap company this afternoon and has run well enough on a couple of starts to merit consideration. She wasn't beaten far behind Winsley Hill on her penultimate start before weakening disappointingly at Hexham. The switch to handicapping should suit and there may be more to come but we prefer the claims of Brave Broncho.
