Last year’s winner OMID is 10lb higher and has finished tailed off in a couple of starts on the Flat lately. But he needs a trip like this to bring out his best whereas What A Game, successful over 2m6f here last time with a bit in hand, has yet to conclusively prove he stays this far. Turtle Cask is a stout stayer but returns from a short break and Tuscan Gold is just as interesting at the weights as he’s been running well over extreme distance on the level. Overtheedge is often thereabouts but is another with stamina to prove and Shantou Tiger has only won once since 2014 and is still 4lb higher.
