Verdict

After two decent efforts this term Ebony Light is bound to have his backers but Ginger McCain's gelding may find this opposition tougher and preference is for Grattan Lodge who gets the vote over Moss Harvey. The selection had a good season as a novice last term winning three times from five starts and Howard Johnson's gelding looks the type to progress this term, particularly as he starts off in handicap-company off what looks a favourable mark. Top weight Moss Harvey showed the benefit of a pipe opener when winning at Market Rasen last time but has been raised 6lbs since then and has more to do today. With the stable of Lucinda Russell in such good form at present, Kerry Lads has to be respected on his reappearance, while Keiran, Tipsy Mouse and Granit d'Estruval are others who make their first start of the campaign that cannot be ruled out entirely. Jonjo O'Neill's Mini Sensation is well treated on his best but gave little sign for encouragement on his recent return and is probably best watched this term. Harlov is another more than capable of taking a hand in the finish but the vote goes to Grattan Lodge.
