In depth

Verdict

A competitive opener even though it’s restricted to conditional jockeys. Tango Echo Charlie makes his handicap debut having been placed in three starts this season. Mance Rayder has won over track and trip while there should be more to come from Clondaw Promise this season. Bannixtown Glory is race-fit but so is Iolani, who wins his fair share over hurdles and on the Flat and found only one too good at Kelso 11 days ago. Over this trip, however, Perth third AMBEROSE is preferred with Danny McMenamin riding the two-times course winner rather than Dianne Sayer’s charge, whom he has partnered on numerous occasions. Gortroe Joe is eased in grade and could also play a part.
