Verdict

This is another competitive event and from a shortlist of WENSLEYDALE WEB, Sea Cove and Benmadigan we will put forward the first mentioned as the pick. Martin Todhunter's mare won well when last seen out at Cartmel. She was good value for her winning margin and although she has her quirks, she should make a decent fist of following-up. Her win in August came on soft ground, but she is equally at home on a quicker surface so the conditions will not be a problem. Sea Cove could be the fly in the ointment as she is similar to our selection in the sense that she doesn't do a lot once she hits the front, so she was also good value for her winning margin at Kelso last week when she beat Ergo. She has her limitations, but in this company she should be capable of making her presence felt. Benmadigan recorded a couple of wins back in June but he needs a strong gallop to be seen at his best and there is a suspicion that this race may not be run to suit. Cash Man ran a stinker when last seen out at Hexham in April, while Chip N Pin is another that failed to convince last time out. Wensleydale Web comes with an element of risk but in a trappy event she gets the nomination.
