In depth

Verdict

A forecast of further heavy rain doesn’t bode well for Faithful Promise, who floundered in soft ground at York last time having scored at Musselburgh earlier. Lil Gem never figured in similar going at Thirsk on her debut while Ellthea was beaten a long way when fourth at Windsor. Wirral Girl cost a £100,000 at April’s breeze-up sales and is a newcomer to note for the Fahey yard but a speculative vote goes to the speedily-bred MAY GIRL to make a winning start for Robert Cowell.
