    In depth

    Verdict

Gatacre Street ploughed through the mud to score at Newcastle, when Asking For Answers and Hard Knocks were a long way behind, and further rain would aid his cause though the latter was returning from a long absence and looks on a fair mark with his rider's claim taken into consideration after a couple of good runs at Wetherby. Mymilan won over 2m on his chasing debut here and was taking a massive step-up in trip when just failing to get home on testing ground at Kelso. He's an improving type who should go well though BALLYBREEN can complete a hat-trick. From a yard in top form, he needs to defy an 8lb rise in a slightly better grade but is going so well that another victory looks on the cards. Cudgel, a winner over hurdles at Hexham in December, was having only his second start over fences when just outstayed at Catterick and looks certain to get involved.
