Verdict

Cal Mac is well treated judged by official BHB ratings but, along with Trusted Instinct, is badly out of form at present and preference is for the three-year-old Papeete, who is taken to make the most of the weight that she receives from her rivals. The William Haggas-trained filly made an encouraging return at Leicester earlier this month when a fourth behind Western Roots in a claimer over today's trip on good ground. The winner of a Newcastle maiden as a juvenile on a fast surface, Papeete should appreciate the return to similar conditions today and gets the vote to win a poor race. Smart Boy Prince makes his debut for Frank Jordan, having formerly been trained by Paul Blockley and is probably best watched at present, so Mr Belvedere (representing the in-form stable of Richard Hannon) may do better among the other three-year-olds. Senior Minister has claims if able to reproduce of his best but Papeete is well treated and is given the vote to take advantage off the weights.
