Verdict

ALFA MAGUIRE has run here twice and won both times. He was very highly tried in his last two starts and will find this much less daunting than the Racing Post Trophy. Richard Fahey saddles two with the filly Exhort doing really well in her first campaign, scoring at Haydock and Thirsk before a decent effort in a tough Newmarket nursery. Stable companion Shazzab also won twice in her first season, including on heavy going at Pontefract, and further rain would aid her cause. Placebo Effect had a busy first term winning three of her 10 starts including two on soft going so she would enjoy some cut in the ground. Mont Kinabalu showed he had trained on with a fair run at Chelmsford while Faithful Promise shouldn't be dismissed, though she looked a few pounds high in her final two runs.
