Verdict

Granston can have the measure of Double Vodka and Young Mr Grace, with Wing Commander best of the rest. Granston is a game sort who overcame being hit on the head by a rival's whip when scoring on fast ground at Ascot last September, and with regular pilot Richard Quinn on board again, he is taken to return to winning ways on this, his third outing of the season. James Bethall's charge ran a blinder at Kempton a fortnight ago, finishing second to San Antonio when drawn in stall three, as the winner and those immediately behind were all drawn high. Off a similar mark here and housed in stall seven, he gets the vote over Double Vodka. The latter goes on any ground and was in terrific form last year, winning four on the bounce over various distances. Jamie Spencer rode him into second at Newcastle last time despite not getting the best of luck in running, and he looks sure to go well again. Young Mr Grace may have run too freely when trying to make all at Thirsk in April, while Wing Commander has his first run since finishing down the field in the Lincoln and has topweight. Riley Boys will no doubt come good again soon and he was unlucky in running at Windsor, but on this occasion he and the rest will find the game Granston a tough nut to crack.
