A visor brought about a much-improved performance out of ALIANTE off this mark at Yarmouth last week. The headgear isn't guaranteed to work a second time but Mark Johnston's filly is probably the one to beat if she's truly turned the corner. Arashi is in good form and will make a bold bid to recapture the winning thread but Cottam Donny's early-season improvement appears to have stalled and Maybeme has failed to reproduce the form of June's course win in two subsequent starts. Politbureau is starting to come down the weights again but still looks a shade too high.
