In depth

Verdict

Desert Quill looks the one to beat here with Ipledgeallegiance and Joely Green rated as the principle dangers. The selection ran well when fourth behind Tell The Trees in a competitive affair at Catterick last time out and although this filly is clearly nothing special, this is a race that will not take a great deal of winning. Ipledgeallegiance is on the whole a frustrating sort but there is no doubt that he has ability and he has to enter calculations in this weak affair. However, he is unproven over this trip and for that reason is passed over. Joely Green could therefore rate the main danger as he ran well over an inadequate trip last time when fourth behind Final Dividend at Brighton. He has not won for over a year but he should go well over his optimum trip with conditions to suit. Regency Red is having his first run for Mark Brisbourne so could be worth noting in the market but he will have to show significant improvement to win this, and we will stick with Desert Quill as the one they all have to beat.
