      Verdict

INTERNATIONAL MAN is from the first crop of Australian Group 1 sprinter Epaulette and made an impressive start when beating more experienced rivals at Doncaster. The runner-up has won subsequently and Richard Fahey's charge can defy a penalty. Poet's Dawn has only run on fast ground, scoring over the track and trip last month. But his yard is in cracking form so he should go well while Codicil was a rare first-time out juvenile winner for her stable at Kempton last month and wouldn't have been sent here unless there is confidence in her ability to handle the conditions. Weellan gets the maiden allowance from the winners and his best run was on soft ground so he's no forlorn hope.
