In depth

Verdict

Effernock Fizz landed a premier handicap at the Curragh on Sunday but was well beaten in a Tipperary Grade 3 hurdle on Thursday The Byrnes stable run two. Thosedaysaregone scored at Dundalk in March and ran well in a Grade A handicap hurdle the following month but Kevin Brouder rides RUN FOR OSCAR here. A winner on the Flat, of a bumper and a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle in November, he'll be better for last month's run at Down Royal and can do well this campaign. Wouldn't You Agree landed a Listowel maiden before just beaten by Statuaire at Wexford with Persia, who runs in the opener, back in third. He could prove a blot on the handicap and looks the main threat. Department Of War, a Down Royal maiden winner, has run in much better company subsequently while last year's winner Ardamir warmed up with a good run on the Flat at Limerick.
