In depth

Verdict

LIBER, a winner at Carlisle before a close third in a Listed race at Epsom, wasn't beaten far at Royal Ascot before floundering in heavy ground at Newbury. He's probably vulnerable to an improver but his overall form makes him the one to beat. Normal Equilibrium started a short-priced favourite on his debut at Lingfield but ran as though the experience was required. He'll know more here and must rate a threat along with The Taj, a debut winner at Doncaster before running reasonably well in the Coventry Stakes. Lucky Beggar took advantage of the very testing ground at Windsor to record a comfortable victory but was only beaten a short-head on good going over the C&D earlier.
