In depth

Verdict

Sovietta and Directa's Digger come here in good form but we're going to take a chance with Rajam. Keith Goldsworthy may be better known for his jumpers but his horses have been in really good form under both codes of late and it's worth taking a chance with Rajam this afternoon; particularly with Chris Catlin engaged to do the steering. The gelding has shown improved form over obstacles since joining his current yard and there's every chance that he may be able to do the same back on the level. His three wins on the Flat came over twelve furlongs on quick ground but he won a three mile chase on soft ground on his latest start so should have no problems on that score and he's well handicapped on the best of his form. Few come into this race in great form which suggests that it may not take a great deal of winning and Directa's Digger has to be on the short-list following a near miss here last time whilst Sovietta has been in good form on the all-weather and will appreciate the return to racing on grass. Dot's Delight, Synonymy and the experienced Bobsleigh are others that could get into the mix but we'll come back to another veteran in Rajam for our selection.
