In depth

Verdict

Tizi Ouzou made a winning start to her hurdling career at Ludlow last month and was far from disgraced behind the useful looking Papini at Newbury subsequently so has to be respected but Confluence could be a decent recruit and gets the vote with Incursion rated the best of the remainder. The selection was not far off listed class on the level in France and is sure to have been well schooled by Jonjo O'Neill, who has a good record with his runners here. He makes more appeal than Top Achiever, who has twice found one too good and may have to settle for a minor role again. Alan King's Incursion, a useful performer on the flat, has shown promise in two starts over hurdles and should be thereabouts again, while Folkestone maiden winner Play The Melody could be interesting on his hurdling bow for Colin Tinkler. Moon Catcher is likely to struggle under his penalty and of more interest may be Martin Pipe's Tizi Ouzou, who was only plating class on the flat but is already better than that over hurdles. Tim Easterby's pair Java Dancer and Miss Eloise are others to consider but Confluence could be better class than his rivals and gets the vote to make a winning hurdling debut.
