Verdict

We will side with Trisons Star in the Beginners chase with Monteforte and Henry¿s Pride rated the main dangers. He showed he had bags of stamina when winning a good novice hurdle at Perth over an extended three miles last April. That was in soft ground and he should find the conditions here very much to his liking. He has since ran creditably over fences and this may be the race where he opens his account over the larger obstacles. Monteforte made a pleasing chasing debut at Hereford earlier this month. He was eight-lengths behind a well-fancied Philip Hobbs runner that day, but he has had breathing problems and collapsed in the paddock following racing that day. Henry¿s Pride was a length behind Great As Gold at Carlisle earlier this month and can go close again here but he is not guaranteed to stay three miles and so we will stick with Trisons Star.
