In depth

Verdict

This is not a race that should take a great deal of winning and if Auchonvillers could translate the best of his flat form to hurdles he would beat these easily. However, the five-year-old has clearly had his problems and it remains to be seen how much ability the son of Deploy retains, especially after his recent hurdles debut. Chris Thornton's Bellacaccia ran some decent races in defeat last term and if fit for her reappearance would have to be respected. After an encouraging second to Golfagent in a similar race at Stratford at the beginning of the month Miss Janica gets the TEAMtalk vote. Trainer Venetia Williams has been patient with the daughter of Sir Harry Lewis and that begin to pay dividends here. Carpet Princess may be the best of the newcomers but that does not say a great deal.
