In depth

Verdict

This looks a decent Hunter Chase and Upham Lord is taken to beat Heidi and Step On Eyre. Last time out at Fakenham,Peter Beaumont's eleven-year-old was most impressive in maintaining his tremendous winning record. Successful in his last 19 starts in ladies' opens in point-to-points, he ran his rivals into the ground on that switch back to Rules. He should easily take this on the way to much better things. Heidi was runner up in a couple of decent races at Wetheryby last season and could be the main threat to the selection. Of the rest only Step On Eyre appears to have any real claims, having run very well over course and distance last April. However on recent evidence Upham Lord looks a different class and is taken to easily account for these.
