Verdict

HURRICANE VOLTA, a winner on good ground and the all-weather on the Flat, returned from a poor run at Ayr to be beaten narrowly by Port Rashid, who was receiving 15lb, on heavy going at Tramore. With these conditions much more to his liking he should go one better. Winning bumper Licklighter hasn't run since a fine effort when just failing to catch Top Othe Ra over an extra furlong here last July but that was his first start in almost a year so the lack of a recent run shouldn't pose a problem. Niven, three times a winner on the level, hasn't made the expected progress after a fair start over timber but Punches Cross is the type to do better and would have been closer at Clonmel but for a couple of mistakes. Bensachuine started out over timber with a very good run at Cork in 2016 but hasn't gone on from there.
