An ordinary contest that lacks strength in depth; so a tepid nomination goes the way of Princess Ellis, who has at least got a recent win to her name and is just preferred over old rival Mangano and the lightly raced Five Wishes. The last named has not been over-faced for her handicap debut and may have plenty to offer in a race of this nature. She is one to carefully monitor in the betting. Mangano was just out-battled by the selection when they met here a fortnight ago (Moonlight Applause was fifth but could also figure for a place if on song today) and has a feasible chance on these terms. However, Princess Ellis has more solid form to her name and, even though it would be unwise to regard her as a 'good thing', she does look the one they will all have to get past if she is in the mood for another scrap this afternoon.
