      Verdict

As the majority of the pace seems to be either high or low from the draw, it would be no surprise to see them split into two groups for this quality renewal. Of the low numbers, Indian Spark looks anchored by top-weight and will have to run out of his skin to defy the burden. Artie, Albashoosh and Good Girl are all a difficult to predict and only first named can be seriously given place claims. Budelli on the other hand is a consistent sort and should again run his race, despite needing to overcome a 9lb higher mark than for his latest success. Tom Tun and Croeso Croeso have also been hit hard by the handicapper after winning eight races between them previously this season and will do well to make the frame. The same can be said of Deceitful, who dropped back to six furlongs successfully in the Great St Wilfred at Ripon last month. There does seem to be a mixture of stamina and speed amongst the higher numbers and Injaaz looks a fair candidate to tow them along. She has really improved since being dropped to sprint distances and may well be hard to catch if she is not taken on for the lead. However, the ground may be a little softer than she cares for and she will do well to hold off strong finishers like Royal Millennium and Bond Boy. The in-form Capricho also fits the profile of one of the more likely winners and is sure to be thereabouts if he can overcome a 6lb rise for winning at Goodwood last time. However, he is closely matched with Attache on these revised terms and the pair are taken against the field by TEAMtalk in the hope that they can continue their tremendous form from this term. A market move for either Marsad and Abbajabba, who both look to have been laid out for the race, would also warrant some small each way interests. It is also impossible to ignore David Nicholls' runners in a race that he has become synonymous with in recent times, but Extinguisher and In Space are difficult to assess on what they have shown so far. And although Funfair Wane and Hurricane Floyd make plenty of appeal on the pick of their form, they do have a little to prove with a few of today's rivals. Halmahera gained a deserved success in the Portland at Doncaster but his knack of meeting trouble in running does not make him a confident selection to follow up.
