      In depth

      Verdict

This is a really competitive handicap and Gleaming Spirit gets the narrow vote over Bond Boy and The History Man. The selection has his optimum ground conditions today and he can gain his compensation after he was denied a clear run when fifth behind Day By Day at Sandown last time. He is not ideally drawn but he will get maximum assistance from Ryan Moore in the saddle and he makes plenty of appeal. The History Man is a course and distance winner and this track clearly suits his style of racing. He will be doing his best work at the finish so he could go well from a decent draw. Bond Boy is another with claims as he has a good draw and he is versatile with regards to the ground. Slade O' Hara is good value for his claim and he can go close. Kings College Boy is worth considering from stall 4 but he will need some luck as he likes to come from off the pace. Funfair Wane could prove best of the remainder, but for the winner we will stick with Gleaming Spirit.
