In depth

Verdict

Auction Room, Crimson Flame and Peppertree Lane are the three we like here and the vote is given to Auction Room. The selection travelled extremely well on her debut but did not get a clear run and she was not subjected to a hard time when her chance had gone. She can improve for that effort as she did show distinct signs of greenness that day and she looks the one to be with here. Crimson Flame rates the main danger as he showed plenty of promise on his racecourse bow when finishing fifth behind Humungous. He was doing his best work at the finish when the penny had dropped and he should go well with that experience under his belt. Peppertree Lane is an interesting newcomer from the Mark Johnston yard, but the stable is not renowned for having first time out 2-year-old winners and he is probably best watched today unless the market vibes are positive. Sparkbridge showed promise on his debut and should be suited by the step-up in trip, but Auction Room showed enough on his racecourse bow to make him the one to beat today.
