In depth

Verdict

Clan Legend has been in terrific form, winning four of his last five starts. Two of those victories came over this course and distance and he loves soft ground so should be thereabouts again despite a 7lb higher mark and a step up in grade. APTERIX looks the class act, however, and can defy his big weight. Brian Ellison puts up 5lb claimer Megan Carberry to ease his burden and the six-year-old can improve an already decent strike-rate. Rock A Doodle Doo made mistakes on his belated reappearance at Newcastle but this is his time of year and he could be each-way value. The blinkers are dispensed with on Wells De Lune after a poor run at Newbury while Kelso runner-up Nine Altars also has a chance of sorts, though would need a strong gallop.
