In depth

Verdict

A race to swerve, with little in form and everything exposed, and we will chance VIEL GLUCK to get the better of Yankee Holiday. The latter represents a yard going well enough and the 10-year-old has some consistent form in making the frame on plenty of occasions, though winning only twice in 50 starts. Trip and ground are not a concern, but he is one-paced and is taken on again. Manoubi has proved expensive to follow, having not won since June 2007, though in such a poor race he might get involved. Instant Shot has amazingly gone up 4lbs for being beaten almost 20 lengths when sent off favourite at Musselburgh last time, but this drop in trip should suit, though slower ground would have been preferred. The others make little appeal with the exception of Viel Gluck. Ferdy Murphy's seven-year-old failed to complete when stepped up markedly in trip last time, but we can put a line through that now he is dropped back to 2m 4f. He acts on a sound surface and looks worth chancing in a very poor contest.
