Verdict

A superb classified event kicks off proceedings at Ascot, with Mutasallil expected to beat Wunderwood and Alphecca. The Goldolphin colt followed up his Ripon maiden victory with a comfortable success from Kingsworld at Pontefract. That was a less valuable contest than today's but he is very lightly raced and open to any amount of improvement. Wunderwood also comes here following two victories, both gained in very completive handicaps. The latest was at Royal Ascot when easily outpointing Pagan Dance, a repeat of that performance will make him very difficult to beat. Alphecca was most impressive when landing his maiden at Lingfield, beating the 81 rated Ganymede without breaking sweat, he really could be anything. Counsell's Opinion and Vengeance can also be added to the mix here, although they are well exposed, and so we will side with one that has plenty of scope for improvement and Mutasallil fits the bill.
