Chris Bealby looks to have found a decent opportunity for Silken Thyne to complete a quick hat-trick following wins at Uttoxeter and Wetherby and he is taken to defy a 10lb penalty. A narrow success over Coolnagorna (winner twice since) on the first of those occasions reads well in the context of this race and, having never been exerted to win on the following occasion, the son of Good Thyne should be able to win again. Oliver Sherwood's The Lyme Volunteer gained a well deserved first success over hurdles when landing a Ludlow handicap off a mark of 98 last month but more is needed here. Majestic Bay has claims on the form shown when third to Prokofiev at Sandown recently, while Roberty Bob is not without a chance if able to reproduce his best chasing form on a return to hurdling. The biggest danger to the selection may come from the Francois Doumen-trained Krach, who ran with credit on his British debut when chasing home Ad Hoc over course and distance last month.
