Verdict

MAIN AIM could be a spot of value here and gets the vote to beat Showcasing, with Starspangledbanner and Fleeting Spirit others to factor in to calculations. Our selection finished a head behind Showcasing and in front of Starspangledbanner when the trio met in the Duke Of York earlier this term. All three were having there first start for some time and there may not be much between them here, but the prices suggest Main Aim is by far the least likely of the three to perform. However, he has gone in since over seven and appeals the type to be suited by a break-neck six, so with a 3lb pull in the weights with John Gosden's runner he looks overpriced. That's not to underestimate Showcasing though as this Gimcrack winner promised plenty that day, staying on and shaping as though he'd be all the better for the run. He receives the three-year-old allowance and can make the most of it by going close with conditions ideal. Starspangledbanner shaped well when back in fifth having been sent off joint-favourite with Showcasing at York. He's due to be retired to stud later this year but could go out with a bang if improving for that run, his first in a couple of months, in keeping with others from the yard. Abbaye winner Total Gallery doesn't have to carry a Group One penalty now but that only serves to make his run in Tuesday's Golden Jubilee all the more disappointing and he'll need to have recovered quickly so a bigger threat may be Fleeting Spirit. Jeremy Noseda's charge beat our selection off these terms last year and her record fresh is a good one but second time out efforts have been stronger so a prep run would've been helpful and she may struggle to improve upon her solid record here. Marchand D'or is classy on his day and has returned to form to a degree this year but will need luck in running and a return to his absolute best to take this while speedy Kinsale King can't be ruled out on the back of a Group One win in Dubai last time. Course and distance winner High Standing needs to leave behind his return success at Haydock to become a factor here whilst Happy Zero is hard to assess but may be better over seven in any event. At a big price Society Rock could run well as he looks the type to benefit from the big field and end-to-end gallop but he was beaten in a Listed race last time and needs to find plenty, so we'll return to Main Aim as our each way selection in a fascinating edition of the Golden Jubilee.
