Verdict

BANKABLE is likely to be many people's idea of a Royal Ascot banker, and whilst it pains me to tip up a 2/1 shot in a 30-runner field, he really is hard to oppose; Lang Shining and We'll Come are just two who go on the shortlist. Having had the early part of his career held up due to foot problems, this strapping Medicean colt of Luca Cumani's looks to be fulfilling his early potential. His two wins this season have been effortless and he has shown an ability to act on any ground. Following his Listed win at Goodwood, he is theoretically well in here with just a 5lb penalty, and assuming that his high draw doesn't act against him, then he should prove hard to beat. Well-laid plans don't always come to fruition though and there are obvious dangers, with Lang Shining standing out. He bumped into a good one in Mia's Boy at York and he should still be competitive off this 5lb higher mark. Had he won at York he would be much shorter for this and he rates the main danger. Docofthebay could be interesting with the first-time blinkers on, and given the way he travels this race could be ideal, although most of his better form has been at shorter trips. Kavachi is lurking towards the bottom of the weights, whilst Ansells Pride is a game front-runner and is one who could run well at a bigger price. Mr Aviator's best form has been on the all-weather, Dubai's Touch has been out of touch this season whilst Secret World seems to have his optimum conditions, and could be capable of running well off top-weight. We'll Come represents Michael Jarvis, and he doesn't use headgear that often so it would be no surprise to see him run well especially now returned to a mile. Oceana Gold only has a length to find on the selection on their run here last September and is miles better off at the weights today; that should see him in the mix however the selection has improved leaps and bounds since whereas Oceana Gold needs to prove that his run last time was all wrong. The deeper you look the more dangers you find, however it is hard to get away from Bankable.
