    Verdict

Rod Millman's Sergeant Cecil was disappointing considering he had his ideal conditions at Sandown behind Silvaline last week and, while the winner there has to be respected under his 5lb penalty, the vote goes to Cutting Crew. The selection looked a horse to follow when winning a handicap over this trip by four lengths at York's May meeting but ran below par at Goodwood on his only subsequent outing. Peter Harris has his string in good form at present and the chances are that the son of Diesis will leave the form of his latest effort well behind him here. James Fanshawe's Penzance is a half-brother to the stable's Soviet Song and is not certain to appreciate the step up in trip so a bigger threat may come from Luca Cumani's Zeitgeist, for who the booking of Frankie Dettori takes the eye. Mark Johnston's Fort and the bottom weight Feed The Meter are others worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Cutting Crew, who is taken to bounce back to form.
