    Verdict

Major Jack was last seen on Turf finishing a length-and-a-half third to recent Wolverhampton winner Basil Berry at Leicester in the autumn. He's 3lb better off here so there shouldn't be much between the pair today. Sir Robert Cheval needs some help from the handicapper but should be winning when his mark is lowered while Red Pike was second over this course and distance in October, just ahead of Mr Win, and won later at Newmarket. Valbchek came right back to form at Lingfield last month and can race off a 3lb lower mark in this so can't be ruled out. BOY IN THE BAR's run behind stablemate Eastern Impact at Newmarket in August was franked when the winner made a winning reappearance off a 4lb higher mark at the Craven meeting. His yard is firing on all cylinders and, potentially well drawn, Robert Winston's mount shouldn't be far away.
