Colin Fleming and Jonny Marray were narrowly beaten 6-4 3-6 10-8 in the final of the men's doubles at the Open 13 in Marseille.

The British pair were seeking their first ATP Tour title together in their third final appearance, but they were undone by Croatia's Marin Draganja and Henri Kontinen of Finland.

They dropped the first set but managed to level and force a Super Tie Break.

However, despite winning four more points over the entirety of the game, Fleming and Marray dropped vital points at the wrong time and missed out on the prize.

Their performances in France will add to captain Leon Smith's quandary as he mulls over his team for the Davis Cup clash with the United States in Glasgow next month.

Form

Britain's doubles players have been in fine form in 2015, with Dominic Inglot and Jamie Murray part of pairings in the top five in the world.

Andy Murray seems likely to play all three days with Inglot, Jamie Murray and Fleming competing to partner the British No 1.

Fleming and Andy Murray has been the first-choice doubles pairing in recent Davis Cup matches but Jamie Murray's form put him in pole position at the start of the season while Inglot's good run has made him a real contender.

The Londoner and Romania's Florin Mergea reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open with victory over US Davis Cup doubles pair Bob and Mike Bryan.
