Veteran midfielder to leave Milan and re-sign for PSV

Mark Bommel has confirmed that he will be leaving AC Milan in the summer and returning to his native Holland to re-sign for PSV Eindhoven. The 35-year-old is the latest veteran performer to announce their departure from the San Siro, with Alessandro Nesta, Filipo Inzaghi and Gennaro Gattuso already heading for the exits. Van Bommel will join the exodus of experienced stars at the end of the season, bringing to an end an 18-month stint in Milan. He has expressed his sadness at severing ties with the club, but says he will be heading home for family reasons. He told Milan's official TV channel: "I'm leaving Milan. I was only here a year-and-a-half so for me it's easier to say goodbye than players like Gattuso, Nesta and Inzaghi.

Family

"That's the way life is - the time comes when you have to leave. When I arrived here, everyone told me this club is like a family and it's true, it is." Van Bommel claims he is to pen a one-year deal with PSV - a club he represented for seven years prior to signing for Barcelona in 2005. "I will go back to Holland and I will play for PSV," he added. "Maybe one day I'll return here (Milan) as a coach."
