Colchester United have signed pre-season trialists Merrick James-Lewis and Jackson Ramm ahead of the upcoming season.
Both players have spent most of the summer with the U's and have impressed in recent friendly matches, prompting boss John Ward to offer the pair contracts for the upcoming season. James-Lewis joins the club on a six-month deal after being released by Southend United at the end of last season while former England youth international Ramm, who started his career at Norwich, has penned a 12-month contract. Ramm and James-Lewis will be involved with Ward's first-team but will also provide strength to the club's under-21 squad.
