Spanish midfielder set to spark summer battle

Swansea will do all they can to bring Jordi Gomez to the club on a permanent basis over the summer. The Spaniard joined the Swans on a season-long loan from Espanyol last year and has proved to be a big hit at the Liberty Stadium. Roberto Martinez's men are understandably keen to keep him in South Wales, but accept that his profile has risen considerably this term. SPL giants Celtic are now reported to be weighing up a £2million approach, but Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins will not give up on the talented 23-year-old without a fight. "I don't know what Jordi might be worth or if Celtic or anyone else are interested in him," Jenkins told the Evening Post. "He is not our player so I wouldn't expect to know. "But we would like to have Jordi back. "If there's a chance of him leaving Espanyol, we would pursue every angle to bring him to Swansea City."
