Serena Williams claimed her eighth Miami Open championship with a one-sided victory over Carla Suarez Navarro in the final.
The dominant American secured a 6-0 6-2 win on Saturday to notch her third consecutive Miami title and the 66th WTA title of her illustrious career.
Williams joins Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert as the only Open Era players to win the same event at least eight times.
Williams surpassed Graf's haul of Miami wins last year and further extended that record with a one-sided thrashing of her Spanish opponent.
"It feels really good to have eight under my belt. I can't say I thought I would win eight, especially in the beginning of the week," Williams said.
A fortnight after withdrawing from Indian Wells with a knee complaint, she improved her record of not dropping a set in five matches against Suarez Navarro.
Williams sent down seven aces and won 21 of 22 points where her first serve landed in play.
"I'd like to believe the older I get, the better I get," Williams, 33, said after the match.
"I improvised today. I took some pace off to get my first serve in and it worked for me, because I haven't been serving in this tournament the way I would like to. Improvising was healthy."
Suarez Navarro, who beat Williams' sister Venus en route to the final, will break into the world's top 10 on account of her Florida performances.
"When I play with Serena, I know that she's the best," Suarez Navarro said. "She has the game to make me play bad.
"But this time I believed in me, in how I'm playing the other matches. I tried. I tried until the last point, but it was tough and difficult for me."
