Top seed Eugenie Bouchard cruised into the second round of the Generali Ladies Linz with a 6-4 6-1 win over home hope Patricia Mayr-Achleitner on Wednesday.
The Wimbledon was broken twice in the opening set but recovered to record a comfortable win against the Austrian wildcard entrant
Bouchard broke her world No 100-ranked opponent six times on her way a win which was completed in an hour and 15 minutes.
Elsewhere in round one, Italy's Karin Knapp saw off fifth seed Sabine Lisicki 7-5 2-6 7-6 (7-1) while third seed Dominika Cibulkova crashed out 2-6 6-3 6-4 to German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam.
Second seed Ana Ivanovic was forced to withdraw prior to her scheduled second-round match against Madison Brengle due to a hip injury.
Ivanovic had endured a medical time-out in the course of her first-round win over Pauline Parmentier and was unable to recover in time to play again on Wednesday.
There were also second-round wins for Italy's Camila Giorgi, Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele and Marina Erakovic of New Zealand.
