Fifth seed Bojana Jovanovski cruised into the quarter-finals of the Baku Cup after a 6-3 6-1 win over Katarzyna Piter.
The Serbian went a break behind at the very start of the match but once she found her rhythm she raced away from her Polish opponent.
Jovanovski will next face Japanese qualifier Misa Eguchi, who clinched a 6-2 6-1 victory against Urszula Radwanska.
Eguchi is playing in the main draw of a WTA Tour event for the first time and followed up her first round upset of third seed Magdalena Rybarikova with another shock success.
Elsewhere in the draw, 2013 runner-up Shahar Peer fought back from a set down to progress to the last eight with a 3-6 6-2 6-3 win over Vesna Dolonc.
Eighth seed Jana Cepelova bowed out of the tournament as she was beaten 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 by Pauline Parmentier.
