Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka has withdrawn from next week's ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

The 28-year-old Swiss star has been forced to bypass the ATP Tour event due to a leg problem.

Wawrinka played alongside Roger Federer as Switzerland defeated Serbia last weekend to qualify for the Davis Cup quarter-finals.

He travelled to Novi Sad for the team event after claiming his first Grand Slam success by beating Rafael Nadal in Melbourne and he now needs a breather.

"Unfortunately I'm not in the form to compete in Rotterdam," said Wawrinka.

"I hope to be back on court very quickly."
