US Open: Agnieszka Radwanska defeats Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

Agnieszka Radwanska wore down Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to reach the last 16 of the US Open.
The 2012 Wimbledon runner-up proved too strong against the Russian 32nd seed, a quarter-finalist in 2011, winning 6-4 7-6 (1).
Pavlyuchenkova, seeded at a major for the first time, was undone by 41 unforced errors, which rendered her 32 winners irrelevant against her steady opponent.
However, the ultra-consistent third seed has to survive some anxious moments during the contest before sealing victory in 73 minutes.
"I like hard court and I really had great results on that surface. I think it's just something wrong here that I can't pass the fourth round."
"I'm very happy that I won another match in two sets," said 24-year-old Radwanska. "Of course it was tough, two tight sets. It was just by a couple of points.
"But definitely I played very good in the tie-break. I was really focused from the beginning, and I just wanted to win the tie-break very much.
"Of course I will do everything to make the quarter-final this year.
"I like hard court and I really had great results on that surface. I think it's just something wrong here that I can't pass the fourth round. This is another opportunity, so I will try my best."
She will play Ekaterina Makarova in the round of 16 after the big-hitting Russian knocked out Wimbledon losing finalist Sabine Lisicki 6-4 7-5.
And, if Radwanska wins her next match, the Pole will become the only woman to reach the quarter-finals at all four grand slams this year.
Sloane Stephens, the 15th seed, saw off fellow American Jamie Hampton 6-1 6-3 to set up a fourth-round meeting with top seed Serena Williams.
Williams takes on Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova on Friday evening.
Ninth seed Jelena Jankovic advanced to the fourth round with a 6-4 7-6 (7/5) win over Japan's Kurumi Nara.
