Rising stars Eugenie Bouchard and Grigor Dimitrov took a break from the hard courts of the Mexico Open to play in the middle of Acapulco Bay.

The stunt was organised by Abierto Mexicano TELCEL in an effort to promote the tournament to a wider audience.

Bouchard and world No 22 Dimitrov rallied on a special floating court in the bay after arriving their by yacht.

"It was an amazing experience," said Bouchard, who reached her first Grand Slam semi-final at the Australian Open.

"We got to fly the helicopter to the bay, first of all, and then we got to take this yacht to the court. I've never played tennis on water before, so now I can say I did that! Grigor and I played a few points.

"It was really hot out there, so we were just like, 'Let's jump in.' We really had so much fun - it's probably the best tournament activity I've ever done! It's an experience I'll never forget, and both Grigor and I had a really fun time today."
