Verdict

DICK TURPIN made full use of the drop in class to return back to the winners' enclosure. The race had lost some of its sparkle with the absence of Cityscape but this was certainly no gimme for the Richard Hannon charge as the punters came for Side Glance on the day. Fareer attempted to make the pace and was joined by Red Jazz through the majority of the contest as they went a respectable though not particularly quick gallop. Side Glance was rather keen in the early stages and did not really help David Probert as a consequence. Aware that this race was likely to develop into a sprint, Pat Dobbs brought Dick Turpin around the outside of the pack to challenge and the colt was able to take full advantage of the others predicament as he had the double whammy of first run upon Fanunalter whilst market rival, Side Glance, was short of room on the inside and in no position to make progress. The winning margin was three-quarters of a length though the second was ultimately well held.
