Verdict

Luca Cumani has a good record in this event but his representative this year Idealistic will do well to defy a 4lb rise in the weights for his win at Bath earlier this month on today's softer surface and a better bet looks to be Dance To My Tune, who is preferred to stablemate Sporting Gesture. The last mentioned looks the first string of Mick Easterby¿s two runners with Serena Brotherton booked but is strictly held by Idealistic on running last time and may not want the ground this soft. The booking of the highly proficient Nina Carberry for Kevin Ryan's Tedstale takes the eye although today's softer surface may test his stamina to the limit, while Howard Johnson's Regal Setting has a long absence to overcome. The Willie Jarvis-trained Namat is less exposed than most of these and has to be respected under the capable Sarah Bosley, while Pat Haslam's Patxaran faces no easy task against older rivals although he does have the assistance of Carol Williams. Richard Fahey's Oldenway and Resonate, who finished third behind Idealistic at Bath, are others to consider but the vote goes to Dance To My Tune. The rain has come at just the right time for Mick Easterby's filly, who remains feasibly well treated off a 3lb higher mark than when scoring over this trip under similar conditions at Hamilton in June.
